PhD Student in High-Performance SoC Design: Investigating and stretching the limits of existing modeling and simulation methods for power and signal integrity in System-on-Chip designs with an accent on abstract simulation models and "digital twin" feasibility. Focus on characterizing limitations, optimizing modeling precision, and assessing gaps between simulation and reality in integrated IC, package, and PCB simulations.

What you will do

• Create an overview of state-of-the-art modeling methods and simulation tools for power integrity and signal integrity.
• Characterize the limitations of modeling methods and tools related to modeling style, simulation methods, and computational feasibility.
• Investigate options to stretch the boundaries of modeling precision and computational feasibility.
• Create a system-level simulation integrating IC, package, and PCB for a state-of-the-art SoC.
• Assess the gaps existing between simulation results and reality to rate the quality of simulations as a "digital twin".
• Participate in the dissemination and exploitation of results through scientific publications.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical Computer Science, or related fields.
• Experience with or a good understanding of SoC design methods, covering analog and digital design.
• Circuit simulations experience on different integration levels, covering analog and digital design.
• Strong interest in modeling and simulation methods, and pre- and post-silicon analysis.
• Fluent in spoken and written English (C1).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• The contract is part-time (80%), limited to 3 years.
