TL;DR

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of calibration software engineers, owning their performance and career development.
  • Own the end-to-end calibration software, process, and documentation for cameras, LiDARs, and IMUs.
  • Drive the strategic direction for accuracy, repeatability, and scalability, pushing toward full automation.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between the calibration team, production floor, and adjacent engineering teams.
  • Contribute hands-on to the production C++ codebase.
  • Shape the evolution of calibration alongside new hardware and ML-based perception pipelines.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on sensor systems, calibration, or SLAM.
  • Strong C++ development skills for production code and Python for tooling and automation.
  • Proven experience leading or technically mentoring a software team.
  • Proficiency in Linux.
  • English: C1 level (excellent written and verbal communication) required.
  • Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Munich, Germany.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Ceres, Eigen, OpenCV, PCL, ROS, or Boost.
  • Background in modelling and solving 2D/3D geometry optimization problems.
  • Familiarity with SLAM systems and their relationship with calibration quality.
  • Exposure to ML-based perception techniques.
  • Track record of contributing to open-source software.
