Sr. Software Engineer

Location: Remote within South America

Salary: Brazil band of R$319K–R$529K or US$59K–US$95K; contractor payments are made monthly in USD through Oyster.

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, test, deploy, and monitor scalable features and services.
• Own projects end-to-end, from requirements and implementation through production delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to identify needs and deliver reliable product and infrastructure improvements.
• Improve system performance, reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical direction.
• Mentor peers and work alongside AI engineering specialists as the platform evolves.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience in production environments.
• Strong JavaScript skills with experience in Vue, React, or Angular.
• Back-end experience with PHP, preferably Laravel, Go, or a similar technology.
• Strong database design and development fundamentals with SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure, Git, and collaborative development workflows.
• Clear communication skills, a self-directed working style, and comfort using Cursor or similar AI-assisted coding tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems or event-driven architectures.
• API and data-flow design and optimization experience.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog or Sentry and performance profiling.
• Experience solving scalability or data-processing bottlenecks.
• MongoDB experience.
