TL;DR
Staff Software Developer (AI): Building and scaling ’s next-generation Document Management System (DMS) to unify document workflows across ’s product ecosystem with an accent on ingesting, processing, and securing massive volumes of sensitive legal data. Focus on defining architecture, influencing roadmap decisions, and solving foundational technical challenges at scale using AI-powered search and document insights.
Location: Remote (Canada or USA). If located in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Dublin, or Sydney, office attendance is required twice per week.
Salary: $171,000–$256,600 CAD per year

What you will do
- Act as a technical leader across large-scale initiatives, partnering with management and product to define technical roadmaps.
- Design distributed systems for high volumes of sensitive legal data and build scalable services supporting AI-powered search and processing.
- Simplify and evolve coding patterns, abstractions, and interfaces, ensuring long-term scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Mentor senior and intermediate developers, provide constructive technical feedback, and promote collaboration across distributed teams.
- Drive system design discussions, influence cross-team technical decisions, and contribute to architectural documentation.
Requirements
- Customer-obsessed mindset.
- Significant experience building and scaling web applications (Ruby on Rails preferred).
- Deep experience designing distributed systems and scalable architectures.
- Proven success operating at Staff-level scope, demonstrating cross-team influence and long-term technical strategy.
- Experience building large-scale SaaS platforms.
- Demonstrated mentorship and technical leadership within Agile environments.
- English: B2 required.
- Work authorization for Canada or USA required.
