TL;DR
Principal Software Engineer (Go/AdTech): Developing and scaling the Microsoft Advertising Mediation Service (MMS) for real-time auction and mediation with an accent on high-load backend services and Azure-native infrastructure. Focus on optimizing the OpenRTB request hot path, enhancing auction subsystems, and designing scalable experimentation frameworks.
Location: Mountain View, United States. Employees within a 50-mile commute are expected to work from the office at least four days per week.
Salary: $142,800 – $304,200 per year

What you will do
- Own the long-range architecture of the MMS platform, including the OpenRTB request hot path and auction engines.
- Design and build highly scalable Go services with strict latency (single-digit ms) and availability (five nines) SLAs.
- Evolve the bidder adapter framework to support display, native, and video supply types and new integration patterns.
- Optimize the auction subsystem, including pricing, filtration, and bidder selection, to drive revenue and quality.
- Lead Azure-native deployment and operational excellence across AKS, Event Hubs, and Azure DevOps.
- Mentor senior and staff-level engineers and enforce engineering standards through design reviews and technical RFCs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
- 6-12+ years of technical engineering experience with languages such as Go, C++, Java, or Python.
- Deep production experience with Go, including profiling, GC tuning, and concurrency patterns.
- Hands-on experience with OpenRTB, programmatic advertising, or Prebid Server.
- Production experience with Kubernetes (AKS) and Azure infrastructure (Key Vault, Blob Storage, Event Hubs).
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
