Technical Program Manager, Research (Multilingual AI)

Research Technical Program Manager (Multilingual AI): Owning and improving Claude's multilingual capabilities and ensuring local/cultural relevance for global users with an accent on defining world-class multilingual performance, building programs and evaluation frameworks, and shipping improvements. Focus on working across research, product engineering, and external partners to address low-resource and underserved languages.

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. We expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. Visa sponsorship is available.

Salary: $365,000 - $405,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end program for improving Claude’s multilingual capabilities from research through production.
• Partner with research teams on multilingual data strategies and training approaches.
• Design and implement evaluation frameworks for multilingual model quality, including low-resource language benchmarks.
• Coordinate multilingual dataset collection and curation with internal teams and external partners.
• Act as a connective tissue between research, product engineering, and data infrastructure teams.
• Manage strategic partnerships for dataset acquisition, linguistic expertise, and multilingual evaluation.

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Background in NLP, computational linguistics, or multilingual AI research.
• Several years of experience in technical program management, driving complex programs that span research and engineering.
• Ability to engage credibly with researchers on technical direction for multilingual training data strategies, evaluation, and model assessment.
• Experience building evaluation pipelines and frameworks that provide meaningful signals about model quality across languages.
• Experience working with multilingual datasets at scale, understanding annotation frameworks, and data quality challenges.
• Experience coordinating with external data partners, linguistic consultants, or research institutions.
• Understanding of how research improvements translate into shipped product features.

• Speak multiple languages and have firsthand experience with language technology performance.
