Location: Hybrid in the Netherlands, requiring in-office attendance at the Utrecht HQ at least 2 days per week. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Netherlands and possess valid work authorization.

Salary: €6500 - 7800 (full-time) monthly gross (excluding 8% allowance)

What you will do

• Lead technical direction and delivery for backend systems and services across the platform.
• Collaborate closely with the Architect on major architectural decisions and own implementation-level designs.
• Ensure high quality standards through code reviews, coding standards, and best practices.
• Mentor and coach backend developers, fostering professional growth and building a culture of ownership.
• Ensure operational excellence, observability, and incident learning for production stability.
• Partner with IT Ops and other Leads on DevSecOps maturity, CI/CD, and system resilience.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend development experience, demonstrating significant scope and impact.
• Minimum 5 years in people management, leading and mentoring backend engineers.
• Extensive experience with Java (17+), Spring Boot, REST APIs, and backend architecture.
• Deep experience with AWS services (serverless, ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS/SNS, etc.).
• Proficient knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation or CDK) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Effective communication skills in English (both oral and written).

Nice to have

• Experience in a B2C or B2B eCommerce environment with high availability requirements.
• Experience working with architects and other leads in larger technical ecosystems.
• Familiarity with domain-driven design, API versioning strategies, and backward compatibility practices.
