TL;DR

Lead Engineer (AI): Leading the hirify.global Search Query Platform & Availability team, ensuring high availability for querying and indexing tasks with an accent on enabling vector and lexical search teams to enhance the product. Focus on solving common platform challenges at scale and guiding engineering decisions.

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Canada. Occasional (twice a year) travel to the US is expected.

Salary: $162,000–$225,000 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team, managing all aspects of people management including hiring, growth, compensation, and performance.
• Be directly responsible for the results your team delivers and define the roadmap for the next 12 months.
• Drive improvements to processes and tools for confidently making changes to high-risk parts of the codebase.
• Handle or lead efforts for time-sensitive customer escalations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams across the company on large initiatives.
• Ensure high quality and velocity in the design and implementation of new functionality in Search and Vector Search.

Requirements

• 2 or more years of experience managing a team of software engineers.
• Strong technical judgment to effectively guide engineering decisions.
• First-hand experience developing complex systems like databases, distributed systems, or high-performance applications.
