TL;DR

Principal Product Manager (AI, Privacy): Building and optimizing privacy products that enable trusted, durable, and scalable AI monetization across Microsoft services with an accent on platform primitives, end-user experiences, and trust-revenue tradeoffs. Focus on shipping compliant and high-performing personalization and measurement capabilities by integrating privacy into identity, data flows, ranking, and experimentation systems.

Location: Hybrid (Mountain View, United States). Expected to work from office at least four days per week for US-based employees within 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office.

Salary: USD $188,000 – $304,200 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area); USD $139,900 – $274,800 per year (rest of U.S.).

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end privacy product surfaces (consent, sign-in, transparency, user controls) for AI monetization endpoints.
  • Build and scale platform primitives (APIs/SDKs) for consent state, identity, data-scoping, and privacy-safe defaults.
  • Partner with engineering to ship runtime guardrails for sensitive topics, youth safety, AI disclosure, and policy enforcement.
  • Define product strategies to improve personalization quality under privacy constraints, collaborating on ranking and measurement design.
  • Instrument metrics, telemetry, and experiments around consent rates, sign-in conversion, eligible users, and personalization lift.
  • Enable privacy-safe partnerships through software capabilities and enforceable product controls.
  • Drive cross-org adoption and execution across Ads, Bing, Copilot, Xbox, LinkedIn, and ABK.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development.
  • Experience shipping and iterating ads/monetization, personalization, measurement, identity, or large-scale consumer platform products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead highly technical, cross-functional execution with engineering teams (APIs, telemetry, experimentation, reliability/SLOs).
  • Solid track record using data, experiments, and system-level reasoning to drive product decisions and measurable business impact.
  • Experience building privacy- or trust-related product capabilities (consent, transparency, controls, governance-by-platform, safety/guardrails).
  • Familiarity with privacy and AI governance concepts (GDPR/UK GDPR, CPRA, DPIAs/TIAs) and how they translate into product/engineering requirements.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across multiple organizations and drive platform adoption.
