Founding Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, 3–4 days per week in the New York City office; requires 25–50% travel.

Salary: $160,000–$270,000 annually, with potential variable compensation, equity, and benefits.

Glean provides a Work AI platform with enterprise search, AI assistants, scalable AI agents, SaaS connectors, and APIs for organizations across more than 50 industries.

What you will do

• Discover and build new Glean product surfaces through 0-to-1 product creation.
• Investigate strategic customer problems, form product hypotheses, and validate solutions with business stakeholders.
• Partner with C-suite customer executives and communicate product direction, value, and risks.
• Build production software and AI-powered solutions, then scale successful products with the core R&D organization.
• Work with engineering and product teams to expand Glean’s platform capabilities and shape future offerings.

Requirements

• 4+ years in technical roles with a record of shipping production software used by real people at scale.
• Experience building production AI solutions, including prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale.
• Strong full-stack programming skills and a deep understanding of enterprise systems.
• Ability to identify business problems, define product hypotheses, exercise sound technical judgment, and work independently.
• Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executives.
• Willingness to travel 25–50% and work hybrid from the NYC office.

Nice to have

• Experience as a founder, at a top-tier technology company, or in forward deployed engineering.
• Technical degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Deep familiarity with LLMs, retrieval systems, and evaluation frameworks.
• Experience driving technology adoption in large enterprises.
