Founding Forward Deployment Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in NYC

Salary: $195K–$250K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own customer problems end to end, turning ambiguous requests into shipped software.
• Identify the underlying customer problem and translate fragmented feedback into actionable product direction.
• Build and maintain integrations that move and reconcile SKU, inventory, transaction, and invoice data across legacy systems and modern data stacks.
• Design reusable integration patterns that account for failure modes, scale, undocumented sources, partial data, backfills, and idempotent reprocessing.
• Build validation, exception handling, and reconciliation workflows for AI-driven financial processes, including auditability requirements.
• Improve engineering standards through clean code, AI-assisted development, mentoring, and collaboration with product and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including customer-facing, solutions, or forward-deployed work.
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines and integrations with financial or operational systems such as ERPs, accounting, inventory, or order management platforms.
• Experience handling messy, legacy, and undocumented data sources and owning ambiguous projects through production.
• Strong testing, validation, reconciliation, and auditability practices, with sound judgment about using AI in financial workflows.
• Daily use of AI-assisted development tools and experience building with LLMs.
• Clear communication, strong engineering standards, and the ability to collaborate constructively across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, Node.js, Next.js, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with retail, CPG, supply chain, or finance operations data.
• Early-stage or founding-team experience.
• Familiarity with reconciliation or audit requirements for financial data.
