Software Engineer (Gateway)

Software Engineer (Gateway): Building and optimizing hirify.global's core gateway layer and infrastructure for secure and efficient traffic routing with an accent on API delivery, AI inference, and device fleets. Location: This is a remote position for candidates outside of the Bay Area and a hybrid role for candidates within commuting distance to San Francisco. All candidates must be US-based, and legally authorized to work in the United States. hirify.global is unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Salary: Senior: $180,000 – $225,000 USD (Tier 1 SF, LA, Seattle, NYC); $165,600 – $207,000 USD (Tier 2 rest of US). Software Engineer III: $160,000 – $200,000 USD (Tier 1); $147,200 – $184,000 USD (Tier 2). Software Engineer II: $132,000 – $165,000 USD (Tier 1); $121,400 – $151,800 USD (Tier 2).

What you will do

• Build and operate the core gateway layer that every hirify.global request passes through.
• Design routing and security primitives, including low-level policy, routing, and validation systems.
• Debug distributed systems in production, analyzing metrics, traces, and packet captures.
• Ship simple, durable systems and clean abstractions that other teams rely on daily.

Requirements

• Comfortable in Go, Rust, C/C++, or Java (Go is a bonus).
• Experience building networking, proxy, or infrastructure systems in production.
• Understanding of TLS/mTLS.
• Enjoy building systems that are invisible until they are critical.
• Passion for building primitives other teams depend on.
• Must be US-based and legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with gateways, proxies, or edge platforms.
• Worked on security-critical infrastructure.
• Experience with multi-tenant networking systems.
• Familiarity with config-heavy systems that must never surprise users.
