Application Support Intern (Software Engineering)

Location: Must be eligible to undertake a full-time, on-site 13-month UK sandwich placement as part of your degree and available from July 2026.

What you will do

• Assist with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving application and system issues.
• Log, track, and update incidents, service requests, and enhancements using existing tools and processes.
• Provide regular progress updates to business users and escalate issues appropriately when required.
• Support collaboration with internal and external IT teams to help investigate and resolve cross-system issues.
• Contribute to maintaining and improving application support documentation.
• Support testing activities related to system changes, upgrades, and fixes.

Requirements

• Currently studying towards a Computer Science (or related) undergraduate degree.
• Eligible to undertake a full-time, on-site 13-month UK sandwich placement as part of your degree and available from July 2026.
• A keen interest in IT systems, application support, and problem-solving in a business environment.
• Competent using Structured Query Language (SQL) to work with data.
• Competent in debugging or fixing code in languages like Java, Python, Powershell or VBA.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues at different levels of seniority and locations.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in a corporate environment.
• Ability to help solve issues, finding both the root cause problem and providing tactical workarounds.
