Staff Software Engineer (Big Data, Cybersecurity): Building and optimizing high-throughput, event-driven pipelines for a flagship Exposure Management platform with an accent on processing massive volumes of assets and vulnerability data to calculate the "state of the world". Focus on designing systems for massive scale, ensuring real-time data accuracy, and architecting for reliability in a distributed environment.

Salary: $188,000 – $250,667 USD

What you will do

• Build the backend for hirify.global’s flagship Exposure Management (EM) platform.
• Solve complex data processing challenges, collapsing millions of findings into accurate state records.
• Architect and transition systems to a new, faster, cheaper, and more reliable architecture.
• Deploy, monitor, and ensure the health of services in production using Terraform and Datadog.
• Build and maintain high-throughput, event-driven pipelines for asset and vulnerability data.

Requirements

• 8+ years of Backend Engineering experience focused on high-volume data processing or distributed systems.
• Deep JVM proficiency with Java and Kotlin, understanding memory management and performance.
• Proven experience with stream processing architectures like Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, eventual consistency, and data resiliency.
• Experience with stateful processing logic, calculating "state" from event history.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and observability tools like Datadog.
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL data stores (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB or similar).
• Experience with Event Sourcing or CQRS patterns.
