Location: The role is associated with the Montreal office in Canada, offering remote or hybrid work options. The company operates remotely across the globe. Proficiency in English is required for communication with international colleagues.

hirify.global is a leading independent AAA game development studio with over 20 years of experience, known for shooter titles like Painkiller and Outriders, and currently working on multiple exciting projects including Gears of War: E-Day and new VR experiences.

What you will do

  • Create and implement particle and shader effects, integrating them seamlessly into gameplay and cinematics.
  • Maintain artistic direction and quality for high-quality VFX, collaborating with the Art Director.
  • Translate concept art into real-time VFX in the game and oversee ambient environment effects.
  • Work closely with the production team on task assignment and scheduling to meet deadlines.
  • Provide daily feedback to improve visual quality and collaborate with the team to solve problems creatively.
  • Share knowledge, mentor peers, and drive R&D initiatives with Tech Art to improve pipelines and workflows.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a VFX Artist with knowledge of stylized FX, shader-building, and particle systems (Niagara, VFX Graph, Houdini).
  • Mastery of Maya or equivalent software and strong communication skills to align FX with animation, combat design, and engineering.
  • Strong grounding in stylized real-time VFX, shader authoring, and visual scripting (Blueprint-like systems).
  • Ability to thrive in a tool-driven environment with a focus on automation, reusability, and scalability.
  • Capability to act as a mentor, guiding junior artists in balancing artistic vision with runtime efficiency.
  • Comfortable building FX shaders, scripting FX logic, and debugging complex real-time FX, with a performance-aware and gameplay-driven mindset.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AAA shipped title(s).
  • Familiarity with various game engines.
  • Ability to draw FX textures and flipbook animations.
