Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Fintech)

TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (Fintech): Architecting and developing a next-generation book and records system to power hirify.global with an accent on processing transactions across crypto, fiat, and internal wallets. Focus on redesigning foundational systems for fund movements to set hirify.global up for success in the next decade.

Location: In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually.

Salary: $217,900—$217,900 CAD (base salary, bonus eligibility + equity eligibility + benefits)

What you will do

• Architect and develop the next generation book and records system that powers hirify.global.
• Provide technical structure to teams and collaborate with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using your technical expertise.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience building fault-tolerant, highly reliable systems at scale.
• Experienced architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
• Experience applying these skills to Ledgering or Trading systems at scale.
• Passionate about building an open financial system.

Nice to have

• Experience with Aeron, Raft, and high-performance Java.
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
• Experience in a company experiencing rapid growth (from 10 to 100s of engineers).
