Senior Software Developer (Lakehouse Data Integration): Design, build, and maintain scalable data applications that power hirify.global Verafin's lakehouse platform and enable seamless data integration across the organization with an accent on Java development and PostgreSQL query optimization. Focus on high-performance data operations, unit testing, and continuous improvement of platform architecture.

Location: Hybrid in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador or Toronto, Ontario, Canada (at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications using Java and object-oriented programming principles.
• Write and optimize high-performance PostgreSQL queries for large-scale data operations.
• Build and maintain comprehensive unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data integration solutions driving business outcomes.
• Contribute to improving development processes, tooling, and platform architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java with solid understanding of object-oriented design.
• Proven experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization and database performance tuning.
• Clear communicator with experience in collaborative, cross-functional environments.

Nice to have

• Experience building large-scale data processing pipelines using Apache Spark and Scala.
• Hands-on experience deploying and scaling applications in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, EMR, Lambda).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or cloud-native architectures.
