Location: Must be based in the United States and live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office, with an expectation to work from the office at least four days per week starting January 26, 2026.
Salary: USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year (U.S. general) or USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area).

What you will do
- Architect scalable, low-latency systems and data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and serving personalized signals.
- Design, build, and maintain robust pipelines for telemetry, product usage, and experimentation data, including owning orchestration, monitoring, and DevOps.
- Design data models and APIs that enable Copilot to reason about user context, preferences, and history.
- Build real-time and batch personalization engines that adapt Copilot’s behavior.
- Collaborate with privacy, security, and responsible AI teams to ensure personalization is safe, transparent, and user-controlled.
- Optimize for performance, reliability, and cost across diverse workloads and geographies, and ship high-quality, secure, and maintainable code.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- 4+ years’ experience building scalable services, including securing applications and infrastructure on cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- 3+ years’ experience in OSS data technology such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
- English: B2 required.
- Work authorization for the United States is required.
