Research Product Manager (AI): Defining and shaping AI model behaviors, character, and reinforcement signals with an accent on systematically identifying high-priority behavioral improvements. Focus on translating alignment research breakthroughs into product, process, and model enhancements for safe and helpful AI.

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. Currently, all staff are expected to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. Visa sponsorship is available.

Salary: $305,000 – $385,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Define behavioral defaults and steerability constraints for AI models like Claude.
• Develop and maintain taxonomies of model behaviors across capabilities.
• Identify, triage, and prioritize behavior issues and opportunities, coordinating across teams.
• Translate alignment research breakthroughs into product, process, and model improvements.
• Understand user interaction patterns to enhance Claude's helpfulness and safety.
• Contribute to evaluations measuring alignment progress and scale initiatives for researchers.

Requirements

• 5+ years in product management, leading scaled conversational AI products.
• Deep passion and curiosity for AI and LLMs, with regular AI usage.
• Strong user empathy and ability to synthesize vague feedback into actionable priorities.
• Strong judgment and model taste for navigating nuanced behavior questions.
• Strong grasp of ML concepts and willingness to go deep on technical solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
