Location: Office base is hirify.global Hull. This is an office-based role.

Salary: £54,700 - £64,000 per annum

What you will do

• Lead the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced news operation, making editorial decisions in collaboration with the Senior News Editor.
• Oversee the commissioning, production, and delivery of all online and social media content as the head of the digital team.
• Line manage, develop, and support a large team while handling HR processes.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire’s strongest journalism reaches audiences with maximum impact.
• Uphold the highest editorial standards, ensuring all output is accurate, fair, and legally compliant.

Requirements

• Significant experience in digital leadership.
• Strong management and leadership experience, with a track record of developing teams.
• Outstanding editorial judgment and a thorough understanding of legal responsibilities.
• Experience in sub-editing and publishing online content.
• A deep understanding of what resonates with online audiences and how to grow the reach and impact of digital stories.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with hirify.global editorial guidelines and compliance.
• Knowledge of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire’s local issues and audience needs.
• Background in mentoring or coaching journalists.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across platforms, ideally including TV and radio.
