Barnstorm is an Emmy and VES-nominated visual effects studio based in Los Angeles with operations in Vancouver, Montreal, NYC, Atlanta, and London, providing photo-realistic visual effects for episodic and feature films.

What you will do

• Lead the previs team on assigned projects, ensuring visually compelling and production-ready sequences.
• Collaborate with Directors, VFX Supervisors, and Production to interpret creative notes into accurate previs.
• Oversee scene breakdowns, camera blocking, shot composition, timing, and pacing.
• Mentor previs artists and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality output.
• Coordinate with Layout, VFX, Editorial, and Postvis teams for smooth pipeline integration.
• Manage schedules, resources, and deliverables for the previs team, identifying risks and proposing solutions.

Requirements

• 7-10+ years of experience in previs, postvis, layout, or animation for high-end VFX projects.
• Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling, camera techniques, and shot composition.
• Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Maya.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and inspire a team under tight deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client presentations and inter-departmental coordination.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to anticipate production challenges.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ShotGrid, Houdini, Blender, or Unreal Sequencer.
• Experience with techvis or previs for complex VFX-heavy sequences.
• Exposure to immersive content or game cinematics.
