Senior Compositor (VFX)

TL;DR

Senior Compositor (VFX): Completing complex compositing shot work and participating in Look Development for stop-motion animated features with an accent on combining stage and CG elements, applying knowledge of photography, color theory, and composition. Focus on developing creative and convincing imagery, troubleshooting, and maintaining aesthetic and technical standards in a deadline-driven environment.

Location: Remote from British Columbia, Canada, or onsite in Vancouver, Canada. All applicants must be residents of British Columbia, Canada. Remote work is not available outside of BC. WFH positions require a reliable internet connection and work on Pacific Standard Time.

Salary: $7,200–$10,400 USD monthly

What you will do

• Create composites that meet the creative vision and technical standards of the project.
• Develop and produce creative and convincing imagery by combining stage and CG elements.
• Apply knowledge of photography, color theory, composition, and stage/CG lighting.
• Establish and share workflows, tools, and best practices to support shot production.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues across disciplines to troubleshoot.
• Maintain aesthetic integrity and technical standards of work with consistency.

Requirements

• Must be a resident of British Columbia, Canada.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Citizen, PR, Open Work Permit).
• 5+ years of Digital Compositing experience, preferably on feature films.
• Experience in Nuke, Nuke Studio/Hiero, and Photoshop.
• Experience with Linux (or other Unix) operating system.
• Understand VFX pipeline fundamentals including shooting, editorial turnovers, modeling, texturing, animation, lighting, rendering, compositing, and DI.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently under tight deadlines in a production environment.
• WFH positions require a reliable internet connection and work on Pacific Standard Time.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Silhouette.
• Experience developing custom Nuke toolsets (including Python3 or Nuke NDK).
