Senior Staff Field Application Engineer (Connectivity)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; approximately 25% travel to customer sites, primarily on the West Coast.

Expected base pay: $125,310–$187,680 per annum.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical support interface for US OEM customers using connectivity products such as AECs, ACCs, AOCs, retimers, and optical DSPs.
• Review hardware schematics and layouts, support channel simulations, and lead in-lab product bring-up.
• Provide API and CMIS support for optical and cabling products.
• Support pre-sales and qualification activities for US hyperscaler and Tier-2 cloud customers.
• Manage escalations, high-priority issues, and new feature requests with the Business Unit.
• Collaborate with customer FAEs and internal engineering, sales, and product marketing teams to build customer relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role.
• Deep knowledge of optical transceivers, retimers, and high-speed cable technologies.
• Understanding of signal integrity, SerDes tuning, link training, and compliance testing for 100G/200G/400G/800G+ links.
• Experience with data-center optical and electrical interconnects and lab tools such as BERTs, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, independent-working, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with IEEE 802.3, OIF, QSFP-DD, OSFP, and CMIS standards and MSAs.
• Scripting experience, including Python.
