Location: Hybrid in Edinburgh, Scotland, requiring at least two days per week or 40% of time in the office.

Salary: £72,702 – £80,780

What you will do

• Provide highly advanced and sophisticated technical support for complex mainframe environments.
• Help drive the strategy and design across the mainframe development and test estate.
• Own and drive the zDBA technology roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Implement standardisation and drive improvement initiatives within the team.
• Work collaboratively across wider Lab and Platform teams to promote process initiatives.
• Ensure rigorous adherence to processes, governance, and procedures, including out of hours support.

Requirements

• Extensive in-depth expertise and knowledge of Db2 on z/OS.
• Expert-level experience in performance monitoring and optimisation of Db2, including SQL tuning and buffer pool tuning, with the ability to make targeted recommendations.
• Expert-level experience in governing and approving DDL changes, handling schema evolution, and validating impact.
• Extensive experience in leading the resolution and troubleshooting of critical on-line systems.
• Proven experience in communicating and translating complex technical concepts for Senior Leadership.
• Experience in supporting junior team members, providing coaching on Db2 fundamentals and operational processes.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience as a z/OS Db2 DBA in a financial organisation.
