Founding Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, 3–4 days per week in one of the San Francisco Bay Area offices; 25–50% travel required.

Salary: $160,000–$270,000 annually, with potential variable compensation, equity, and benefits.

Glean develops a Work AI platform with enterprise search, AI assistants, scalable AI agents, SaaS connectors, enterprise graphs, and APIs.

What you will do

• Discover and build new AI-powered product surfaces from 0 to 1 for strategic enterprise customers.
• Lead opportunity discovery by analyzing business problems, forming product hypotheses, and validating them with customer stakeholders.
• Partner with C-suite executives and communicate product rationale, expected outcomes, and risks.
• Build production software across the stack and turn successful customer solutions into scalable products.
• Collaborate with core engineering and product teams to shape the evolution of Glean’s platform.

Requirements

• 4+ years in technical roles with a track record of shipping production software used by real people.
• Experience building production software from scratch in ambiguous environments.
• Production AI experience including prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale.
• Strong full-stack programming skills and understanding of enterprise systems.
• Business acumen, customer communication skills, independent judgment, and the ability to work with executives.
• Willingness to travel 25–50% and work hybrid from a San Francisco Bay Area office 3–4 days per week.
