Solution Architect

TL;DR

Solution Architect: Leading the design and development of modern cloud-based, microservice architectures for a European sportswear manufacturer with an accent on driving architectural decisions, backend development, and ensuring high coding standards. Focus on tackling high-load systems, integrating diverse technologies like AWS, Java, Kafka, and Kubernetes, and proactively improving development processes in an agile, international environment.

Location: Remote from Ukraine, with an option to work from an office.

What you will do

• Lead development teams and improve decision-making in solution architecture design.
• Perform backend development for cloud-based microservice architectures.
• Develop and review feature design documents and specifications.
• Design and implement various types of tests (unit, integration, functional).
• Proactively contribute to architecture preparation, solution development, and process improvements in an Agile environment.
• Communicate effectively with DMs, engineers, QA, and other stakeholders.
• Deliver on product roadmaps and plannings, ensuring high coding standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of commercial software development experience, with 5+ years in Java.
• More than 1 year of commercial experience in solution architecture design.
• Ability to influence senior client decision-makers and lead medium to large solution delivery projects.
• Experience in Pre-sales, Proposal/Bid preparation.
• Excellent client facing, business consulting, and communication skills, with fluent English (C1).
• Excellent knowledge in Computer Science, Computing Theory (Paradigms, Database theory, Algorithms, Design Patterns).
• Understanding of network interactions, protocols, containerization, and orchestration.
• Practical experience with high-load systems (e.g., Telecom billing).
• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS), microservices, and serverless architecture.
• Proficiency with RDBMS / NoSQL / Key-value storages and messaging systems.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Gitlab Pipeline, Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo).

Nice to have

• Certifications in architecture frameworks (SEI, TOGAF) or cloud providers.
• Certifications in delivery processes (SAFe, Agile).
