Principal MuleSoft Architect, Co-CTO (Integration)

Location: Remote and generally open to candidates anywhere, except candidates currently located in Russia or Belarus must relocate before starting. Relocation to Cyprus, Germany, or Poland is supported, including visas, paperwork, and moving costs.

What you will do

• Own solution architecture for flagship integration engagements from discovery and bids through production delivery.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for integration patterns, API design, CI/CD, release strategy, non-functional requirements, and estimation.
• Lead technical presales, including discovery, solution design, effort estimation, and RFP architecture responses.
• Hire, mentor, and develop architects and senior engineers across a distributed delivery organization.
• Set technical direction beyond the current MuleSoft and Salesforce portfolio, including future platforms, domains, partnerships, and certifications.
• Present and defend architectures before client architecture review boards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including a Java background and a career focused on integration.
• Architectural responsibility for at least two large, multi-year, multi-system programs from discovery through production.
• Hands-on experience in banking or financial services, including core banking, payment rails, regulatory constraints, audits, and security reviews.
• Strong command of enterprise integration patterns and API design, including REST, microservices, and SOA trade-offs.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams across time zones in Agile or hybrid delivery models.
• Written and spoken English fluency is required. Production-level experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift is also required.

Nice to have

• MuleSoft or Salesforce experience, plus experience with IBM Integration Bus, TIBCO, WSO2, Boomi, Apache Camel, or Spring Integration.
• Knowledge of ISO 20022, ISO 8583, SWIFT, Open Banking, PSD2, or card scheme integrations.
• Experience with identity and access platforms, messaging and streaming, DevOps, observability, and AWS, Azure, or OCI.
• Public-sector or government delivery experience.
• German or Arabic language skills.
