Principal AI Engineer

What you will do

• Build and evolve the core AI tutoring system, including prompt architectures, agentic workflows, and real-time adaptive behaviors.
• Develop experimentation, evaluation, custom metrics, and frameworks to measure learning effectiveness and model reliability.
• Design scalable software that integrates AI capabilities with platform systems, content pipelines, and user experience components.
• Collaborate with educators, content creators, and product teams to translate pedagogical goals into technical solutions.
• Prototype and productionize novel model interactions while following emerging AI research.
• Implement monitoring, testing, guardrails, and iterative refinement to ensure quality, safety, and observability.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience building complex LLM-based systems, with strong prompt engineering skills and experience designing agentic workflows.
• Ability to design meaningful evaluations, custom metrics, and evaluation frameworks.
• Strong software engineering and architectural skills, with fluency in Python and experience with production infrastructure, cloud environments, and CI/CD.
• Ability to translate learning goals into system behavior and product decisions, with empathy for learners and content creators.
• Ability to solve ambiguous problems, communicate clearly, mentor others, and collaborate in high-ownership teams.
• Must be located in the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, Portugal, or UAE for this remote role.
