Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Data Storage)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Data Storage): Designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable, multi-tenant backend services for cloud data storage with an accent on custom persistence stacks, distributed data systems, and observability. Focus on crafting APIs, schemas, replication paths for petabytes of workflow history, and driving reliability and performance through SLOs and incident reviews.

Salary: $180,000 - $225,000

What you will do

• Design and build distributed data systems, crafting APIs, schemas, and replication paths for durable and query-able workflow history.
• Drive reliability and performance by owning SLOs, creating chaos-test plans, profiling hot paths, and leading incident reviews.
• Provide technical leadership, breaking down roadmap epics, mentoring mid-level engineers, and stewarding design documents.
• Partner with Server, Cloud, and DX teams to land features end-to-end through cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

• 5 or more years of experience as an arranger and/or builder/enhancer of highly scalable distributed systems.
• Solid computer science fundamentals in distributed systems concepts, including multi-threading and concurrency.
• Experience writing concurrent code in production with languages like Go or Java.
• Experience building and running services on AWS.

Nice to have

• Prior contributions to hirify.global, Cadence, or other workflow engines.
• Deep expertise in a storage domain (LSM trees, columnar stores, transactional logs).
• Operated multi-region, ≥99.99 % uptime services.
• Experience working with Open Source Systems.
• Experience in building K8s controllers and/or CRDs.
