Principal Software Engineer (AI/LLM)

TL;DR

Principal Software Engineer (AI/LLM): Leading the design and development of next-generation backend systems and data pipelines for a publisher marketplace serving LLM clients, with an accent on architectural decisions, scalability, security, and integration with AI tools. Location: Onsite in Beijing, China (expected to work from office at least four days per week, subject to local law).

What you will do

• Architect and build scalable core services, including APIs and microservices for publisher onboarding, content catalog, entitlement, and billing.
• Design and implement robust testing and analytics systems, developing ingestion pipelines for premium content and leveraging AI tools for automation.
• Lead architecture and infrastructure design for subscription models, pay-per-use billing, and licensing compliance in AI-driven environments.
• Drive engineering excellence by applying secure coding practices, automation in deployment, and continuous improvement of code quality.
• Guide implementation and release planning, ensuring disaster recovery, rollback strategies, and secure deployment processes.
• Champion reliability and supportability through telemetry integration, monitoring, and incident retrospectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development and distributed systems.
• Solid knowledge of data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Kafka) and streaming systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with secure payment systems, API gateway patterns, and identity management.
• Proven ability to design high-scale systems for AI and LLM integration.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 8+ years technical engineering experience (or equivalent).
• Experience with marketplace platforms, digital content monetization, or AI ecosystems.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and intellectual property protection strategies.
• Understanding of LLM workflows and content licensing models.
