Software Engineer (Java)

TL;DR

Software Engineer, Java (Trade Hub): Designing, building, and scaling core systems for a trading ecosystem with an accent on pricing, execution, portfolio lifecycle, and asset infrastructure. Focus on developing highly available, low-latency, and financially critical backend services, managing order flow, market data, and risk at scale.

Location: Hybrid (Vienna, Austria), with an additional 25 days per year to work from a city or country of your choice.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java.
• Write clean, future-proof code with 80% unit test coverage, end-to-end and integration testing, deploying into an event-driven microservices architecture.
• Optimise payment modules/services to ensure reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Drive innovation by researching and adopting the latest trends and technologies in backend development.
• Be a technical mentor for junior developers, providing guidance and support.

Requirements

• Strong experience in software development using Java and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Understanding of relational and non-relational databases (Postgres and MongoDB experience is a plus).
• Experience creating and maintaining publicly available REST APIs with a keen understanding of performance optimisation and scalability.
• Practical knowledge in message-oriented middleware (ideally Apache Kafka or ZeroMQ).
• Familiarity with CI/CD and public cloud experience (ideally AWS and Kubernetes).
