Member of Technical Staff (Machine Learning, AI Team): Creating and optimizing LLM models for general-purpose capabilities and products, with an accent on developing new training methods, data collection, LLM evaluation, and production-quality code. Location: Mountain View, United States. Employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) or 25 miles (non-U.S., country-specific) of that location.

Salary: USD $119,800 – $304,200 per year

What you will do

• Improve model quality for interactive and agentive experiences using subject matter expertise.
• Oversee data acquisition or generation efforts, ensuring data meets model needs.
• Generalize machine learning solutions into repeatable frameworks.
• Lead evaluation efforts of models deployed within Microsoft products and the Cloud API.
• Track industry advances, identify relevant state-of-the-art research, and adapt algorithms and techniques.
• Write efficient, readable, extensible code and model pipelines independently.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience in machine learning and software engineering.
• Comfortable creating Reinforcement Learning data, fine-tuning, training classifiers, or engineering prompts.
• Experience prompting, evaluating, and working with large language models.
• Experience writing production-quality Python code.
