TL;DR
Junior Technical Support Engineer (Hardware/Software): Investigating and resolving client-reported hardware and software issues with an accent on system diagnostics, log analysis, and root cause identification. Location: Hybrid in Poughkeepsie, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, or Austin, United States. Must have current or future US work authorization.
Salary: $88,000–$152,000 per year

What you will do
- Investigate and resolve client-reported hardware and software issues using diagnostic tools.
- Conduct methodical analysis to identify root causes and deliver effective solutions.
- Collaborate with global teams and interface directly with clients to drive issues to resolution.
- Participate in off-shift and weekend duty rotations as needed to support global clients.
- Contribute to product improvement by identifying design deficiencies and recommending enhancements.
- Continuously develop technical expertise in assigned hardware support product offerings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for debugging and understanding how operating systems and software/hardware work at a low level.
- Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Python, or Java).
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure situations, willingness to work across time zones and participate in global team collaboration.
- Must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship in the United States.
Nice to have
- Basic knowledge of Storage Area Networks and Fibre Channel Switches.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, SMB, and InfiniBand.
- Experience with z/OS or other mainframe environments.
- Basic Understanding of LLM Foundational models and generative AI.
- Familiarity with operating system concepts, storage concepts, and Linux/Unix systems.
- Experience with reviewing software/hardware logs data, debugging, or low-level system troubleshooting.
