Service Designer (GDS)

TL;DR

Senior Service Designer (GDS): Designing and implementing service design strategies and methodologies for public and private sector clients with an accent on understanding user and employee needs and shaping strategic initiatives. Focus on facilitating collective understanding of end-to-end experiences and mentoring junior designers.

Location: Hybrid (UK). Must have valid right to work in the UK and have lived continuously in the UK for the last 10 years. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

What you will do

• Define and implement service design strategies and methodologies across multiple projects.
• Collaborate with user research to communicate insights and help shape strategic initiatives and roadmaps.
• Design concept journeys, blueprints, and roadmaps that elevate the total user experience.
• Map the orchestration of events at the intersection of technology, business, and design.
• Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of continuous growth and improvement.

Requirements

• Proficiency in service design methodologies and frameworks (e.g., Double Diamond IDEO Viable Product Method).
• Ability to design and document service journeys, touchpoints, and interactions.
• Experience in conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret research findings and translate them into actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency in creating wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs using tools like Sketch, Figma, and Adobe XD.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with proven experience in leading service design initiatives and projects.
• Must have the valid right to work in the UK.
• Must have been living continuously in the UK for the last 10 years.
• Ability to hold or gain a UK government security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with user research methods and tools.
• Familiarity with service design frameworks (e.g., Double Diamond, Service Design Network).
• Knowledge of UX design principles and practices.
