Location: This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

Salary: $190,010–$278,682 USD (California), $172,736–$253,347 USD (Washington)

What you will do

• Drive, create, and maintain core AI systems for Special Projects with a systems-level architectural approach.
• Experiment with game design and rapid prototyping, ensuring strong architectural and algorithmic decisions.
• Prototype and iterate on features, writing robust and maintainable code.
• Collaborate closely with art, animation, and design to create gameplay AI features.
• Work with Fortnite and Unreal Engine teams to improve core AI systems.
• Optimize code, fix bugs in existing gameplay systems, and contribute ideas to game production.

Requirements

• Professional experience developing games, especially with Unreal Engine, including shipping AAA titles.
• Experience working with gameplay AI systems (e.g., Behavior Trees, Finite State Machines, Pathfinding).
• Strong C++ skills to architect and build gameplay AI systems and tools.
• Ability to dive into complex systems and existing code bases.
• Well-versed in games, able to articulate design strengths/weaknesses (especially online games).
• Knowledge of ML/AI and its potential applications.
