Senior Software Engineer (C++)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles require onsite presence Tuesday through Thursday, with optional presence Monday and Friday

Salary: $195,780–$242,100 USD annual base pay

What you will do

• Own end-to-end performance of the Roblox client across Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and TV.
• Improve key performance metrics including time to interactive, application size, battery usage, responsiveness, efficiency, and stability.
• Build benchmarking, profiling, telemetry, and regression-prevention systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design stakeholders on technical trade-offs, priorities, and rollout plans.
• Navigate complex codebases, deliver projects from greenfield MVP through production, and mentor peers on performance best practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience writing high-quality, performant C++ in large and complex codebases.
• Proven experience building reliable measurement, monitoring, or regression-prevention systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in complex and ambiguous systems and deliver stable, production-grade software.
• Strong communication skills for discussing technical trade-offs with engineering and cross-functional partners.
• For US-based roles, candidates must have appropriate United States work authorization; certain visa categories may not be supported.

• Hands-on experience with on-device profiling on iOS and/or Android.
