TL;DR

Application Engineer II (Fintech): Developing and maintaining scalable financial products and APIs with an accent on high-volume transaction processing and system architecture. Focus on designing robust services, optimizing performance for concurrent requests, and driving independent technical initiatives within a cross-functional environment.

Location: Onsite in Milan, Italy. Relocation support is not offered for candidates outside of Europe.

What you will do

  • Design and develop large-scale, high-performance systems capable of managing significant transaction volumes.
  • Build and maintain robust APIs and service integrations across engineering domains.
  • Lead technical initiatives from initial architecture design to final implementation.
  • Collaborate effectively with product, marketing, and data teams to deliver innovative financial features.
  • Resolve complex technical problems related to caching, queuing, concurrency, and fault tolerance.
  • Communicate complex solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • Strong background in object-oriented programming (e.g., PHP, Java).
  • Proven experience designing systems that prioritize scalability and system reliability.
  • Solid understanding of queuing, caching, concurrency, and fault tolerance.
  • English communication skills required for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must be currently based in Europe or able to work legally in Italy without relocation support.
