TL;DR

Software Engineer: Contribute to planning and developing features for public services across a variety of technologies, helping to define the features and approach to delivery. Focus on architecting and delivering features in new contexts, utilizing test-driven development and championing clean architectures.

Location: Hybrid (Must be eligible for SC clearance with 5 years' UK residency)

What you will do

  • Write code with test-driven development.
  • Deliver within an agile environment.
  • Work with a variety of programming languages (Java, Ruby, Python, ES6 with React, C#, .NET Core).
  • Work with databases (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Debug in a range of systems.
  • Champion Clean Architectures (Object Oriented Programming, SOLID Principles, Code Smells).

Requirements

  • Eligibility for SC (Security Check) clearance is required.
  • Must have 5 years' UK residency.
  • Must have 5 years' employment history or back to full-time education.
  • Comfortable working with a variety of programming languages.
  • Keen on learning new skills and technologies.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience working directly with customers and users.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams (product, design, technology).
  • Familiarity with Agile practices (Scrum, XP, Kanban) and pair programming.
  • Knowledge of architectural and design patterns.
