What you will do

• Co-create and execute the long-term technical vision for the Buyer domain alongside product, design, and data science partners.
• Mentor and grow a team of 5-6 Engineering Managers and a Staff Engineer to foster a high-performance culture.
• Take full accountability for domain-wide delivery while balancing technical debt with immediate business initiatives.
• Refine cross-team processes, manage budgets, and oversee organizational design to maximize efficiency.
• Drive engineering excellence and ensure technical output aligns with company-wide architectural principles.
• Collaborate with other Directors of Engineering to build a healthy system and remove blockers for marketplace growth.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams in a fast-growing, high-scale product environment.
• Strong track record of coaching and growing Engineering Managers.
• Deep understanding of technical strategy and architectural trade-offs between speed-to-market and stability.
• High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate change while building cross-functional relationships.
• Disciplined approach to organizational design, headcount planning, and budget management.

Nice to have

• Experience with Information Retrieval, Search infrastructure (e.g., Elasticsearch, Vespa), or recommendation engines at scale.
• Solid understanding of the Machine Learning lifecycle and AI-driven feature integration.
• Experience navigating the unique dynamics of two-sided marketplaces.
• Experience leading distributed teams across different European hubs.
