Embedded Rust Engineer (Pharma)

Location: Hybrid in Rotkreuz, Switzerland; contract engagement, 100% workload, starting September 2026 for 12 months.

What you will do

• Develop technical concepts and participate in feasibility studies.
• Own embedded and systems-level software development tasks in Rust.
• Define, estimate, and plan work packages; improve and document software unit specifications and designs.
• Review designs and contribute to software architecture, quality attributes, and technology evaluation.
• Perform root-cause analysis and deliver bug fixes for post-market software releases.
• Ensure process compliance, propose improvements, and monitor regulatory and market standards.

Requirements

• University degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven Software Engineer experience with a strong focus on Rust.
• Hands-on experience developing embedded or systems-level software.
• Experience with real-time Linux using PREEMPT_RT or a comparable RTOS.
• Experience with CAN bus and understanding of real-time constraints, including latency, jitter, and task scheduling.
• Willingness to work in a regulated environment such as medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or industrial safety.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; a motivated, proactive, thorough, and deadline-focused working style.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or IVDR.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, RabbitMQ, or Domain-Driven Design.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker for CI or build environments.
• Experience in agile development environments.
• German language skills.
