Senior Software Engineer (Autonomous Drones)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland; EU citizenship required.

What you will do

• Own and drive new features across the autonomy stack and partner integrations.
• Define system requirements with hardware engineers, product managers, and external partners, translating them into robust software architecture.
• Design and implement distributed state machines, leader election protocols, fault-tolerant architectures, and concurrent software.
• Develop and run SITL/HITL tests before physical deployment, and contribute to release safety.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical documentation.
• Investigate flight-test data and physical failure modes, applying engineering judgment to release decisions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional engineering experience in robotics, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
• Deep proficiency in modern C++ and practical experience designing, reasoning about, and debugging highly concurrent systems.
• Embedded systems experience close to hardware on real-time or safety-critical platforms such as avionics, automotive, or robotics.
• Strong architectural understanding of distributed systems and the ability to evaluate and select consensus designs.
• Familiarity with robust release management, versioned artifacts, and pinned dependencies.
• EU citizenship required.

Nice to have

• Experience with PX4, MAVLink, and related drone software ecosystems.
