Senior Automation Engineer (Ansible/AWX)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid work model with remote/on-site work.

What you will do

• Manage the automation backlog, analyse requests, gather requirements, support prioritisation, and report progress, KPIs, incidents, and risks.
• Design, develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot production automation solutions using Ansible and Python.
• Administer AWX and support the configuration, operation, and lifecycle management of RHAAP/AAP, including migration from AWX.
• Apply Configuration as Code, Git workflows, code review, testing, change management, traceability, and controlled promotion across environments.
• Integrate automation with ServiceNow and automate the DigiCert certificate lifecycle, including issuance, renewal, deployment, and monitoring.
• Produce technical documentation, operating procedures, evidence, and knowledge-transfer sessions for the client's team.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience with Ansible and AWX, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting production automation solutions.
• Advanced experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (RHAAP/AAP), including AWX administration, RBAC, workflows, schedules, monitoring, troubleshooting, and Execution Environments.
• Strong knowledge of playbooks, roles, collections, inventories, variables, handlers, dependencies, and reusable structures.
• Advanced Python skills for maintainable tools, modules, integrations, automation solutions, code analysis, and debugging.
• Advanced Git experience, including branch management, merge requests, reviews, conflict resolution, tagging, change traceability, and Configuration as Code workflows.
• Strong Linux and Bash knowledge; experience testing, documenting, and supporting production automation.
• Ability to analyse complex incidents, work autonomously, organise priorities, and communicate progress, blockers, risks, and technical decisions.
• Experience migrating AWX to RHAAP/AAP and integrating Git repositories with CI/CD processes.
• Experience or knowledge of ServiceNow integration with Ansible/AWX/RHAAP through Integration Hub, APIs, or webhooks.
• Strong communication, collaboration, technical judgement, quality focus, security awareness, and willingness to transfer knowledge.

Nice to have

• Red Hat certifications for Managing Automation and Developing Automation with Ansible Automation Platform.
• Knowledge of Event-Driven Ansible, Ansible Automation Hub, certified or validated collections, and the Model Context Protocol.
• Experience with DigiCert or other certificate lifecycle management solutions.
• Knowledge of Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools and CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of PowerShell, Docker, SonarQube, or JFrog Artifactory.
• Experience in regulated, audit, evidence, or GxP validation environments and in service or change management.
