Senior Software Engineer (AI & ML Innovation)

Location: Galway, Ireland. Hybrid role requiring an average of two days per week from an HPE office.

What you will do

• Lead AI/ML initiatives across the Hybrid Cloud portfolio and translate customer requirements and industry trends into products, solutions, and system improvements.
• Research current AI and machine learning technologies, frameworks, and algorithms and design solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Optimize high-throughput, low-latency LLM inference pipelines using serving engines such as vLLM or SGLang.
• Design autonomous agentic workflows and multi-agent systems with Agent-to-Agent communication, reasoning loops, tool calling, and orchestration frameworks.
• Integrate, deploy, monitor, fine-tune, and optimize models within existing software systems and infrastructure.
• Set implementation standards with engineering leadership, mentor colleagues, and present technical recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• Typically 4–7 years of experience, including production-level software development.
• Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning models, reinforcement learning, neural network architectures, transfer learning, generative models, and optimization algorithms.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or Java, plus software engineering best practices, version control such as GitHub, and software development methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with LLM inference scaling and optimization, including high-throughput and low-latency systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Azure, open source technologies, and Linux.
• Understanding of DevOps and SRE practices.
• Strong understanding of GitHub Copilot, Cursor, N8N, vibe coding, Windsurf, and similar technologies.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Active engagement with AI/ML research, emerging technologies, and state-of-the-art techniques.

Nice to have

• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
