Director of Operations (Robotics)

Location: Hybrid, London, United Kingdom; travel of approximately 15–20% to internal sites and the London HQ is required.

What you will do

• Design and roll out the Operations operating model, leading cross-functional tiger teams against a 12-month roadmap with defined outcomes.
• Build the Customer Success operating system for planning, executing, and reporting customer deployments, including KPIs for time-to-go-live, utilisation, cost-to-serve, and renewal health.
• Redesign Pre-Sales scoping and requirements documentation with standard templates, approval gates, and complete costed specifications for delivery handoff.
• Streamline order-to-install, demand planning, and procurement workflows with the Supply Chain & Procurement function.
• Own the Operations KPI tree, dashboards, and weekly/monthly operating reviews, making data reliable and decision-ready.
• Document SOPs and build an Operations playbook that supports continuous improvement without dependence on the role holder.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in operations, business operations, or operational excellence, including 3+ years at Director or senior-manager level.
• Experience in a scaling B2B company that ships physical products with field installation and support, such as robotics, instrumentation, capital equipment, or lab automation.
• At least one end-to-end cross-functional Operations transformation covering operating model, processes, tooling, and reporting, ideally during restructuring or rapid scaling.
• Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma, value-stream mapping, roadmaps, governance, RACI, and change management.
• Experience across Pre-Sales scoping, S&OP, procurement, project delivery, and Customer Success, including ownership or redesign of a URS/SOW requirements process.
• Analytical and financial acumen covering KPI trees, dashboards, cost-to-serve, services margin, working capital, and business cases.
• Fluency with CRM, ERP, project/PSA, and BI tools, including leadership of a system selection and implementation.
• Ability to influence Director-level peers, lead matrixed teams without line authority, and communicate clearly from field engineer to board.

Nice to have

• Life science, diagnostics, or lab-automation experience and exposure to GxP or ISO 9001/27001.
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or PMP certification.
• Experience with DBS or PPI business-system cultures.
• Hands-on Salesforce, NetSuite, or CPQ configuration experience.
• Field service and install-base operations experience.
