Firmware Automation Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Design and operate zero-touch firmware update pipelines across servers, switches, accelerators, and GPU clusters.
• Own firmware lifecycles for systemboards, BIOS/UEFI, BMCs, InfiniBand HCAs, network switches, and high-performance GPUs.
• Use Redfish and IPMI APIs to discover, configure, inventory, and update bare-metal assets at scale.
• Build telemetry, health checks, canary deployments, blast-radius protections, and automated rollback mechanisms.
• Integrate firmware management with SaltStack, Ansible, configuration management, and provisioning workflows.
• Investigate hardware errata and bug reports with vendors and internal platform teams, including critical CVEs and performance regressions.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and updating firmware across thousands of nodes simultaneously using automated cluster-level workflows.
• Mastery of the DMTF Redfish specification, server management, out-of-band communication, and telemetry collection.
• Strong understanding of firmware management across systemboards, InfiniBand and Ethernet network stacks, and GPU architectures.
• Experience validating hardware health after boot and safely executing unattended rollback procedures.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or advanced shell scripting.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Salt.

Nice to have

• Experience with the OpenBMC ecosystem or custom BMC firmware images.
• Operational familiarity with NVIDIA/Mellanox firmware tools including mstflint and mlxup.
• Experience managing firmware lifecycles in large-scale AI/ML training clusters or HPC environments.
