Principal DevOps Software Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Remote within the United States; applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. Non-U.S. citizens must have lawfully resided in the United States for at least three consecutive years before applying.

Salary: $175,000–$240,000 per year.

What you will do

• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and GitHub Copilot to design, build, operate, and troubleshoot infrastructure and automation.
• Design and manage resilient, secure, performant, and scalable cloud infrastructure and delivery platforms.
• Operate and improve Kubernetes-based platforms and the surrounding ecosystem for microservice workloads.
• Implement reusable, tested, peer-reviewed infrastructure-as-code modules and maintain CI/CD pipelines in a regulated environment.
• Architect and operate AWS environments, including networking, security controls, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with Engineering, QA, IT, and Security on infrastructure, deployment, and operability design.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
• Experience using Claude Code, Codex, or GitHub Copilot for infrastructure, automation, and troubleshooting.
• Strong Kubernetes experience, including its ecosystem such as EKS, Helm, Argo CD or Flux, and Prometheus or Grafana.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS; proficiency with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins.
• Solid networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load balancing, VPC design, and VPN.
• Experience with AWS security tools such as IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Config, and CloudTrail.
• Proficiency in a scripting or programming language such as Python, Bash, Go, or JavaScript; ability to troubleshoot distributed architectures.
• Strong decision-making and communication skills, including support for multiple technical and non-technical teams across time zones.
• Must be able to successfully initiate, pass, and maintain a favorable VA background investigation, including e-QIP/eApp, fingerprinting/SAC, and Tier 1 or Public Trust suitability adjudication.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS GovCloud.
• Experience with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2, NIST 800-53, or ISO 27001.
