Firmware Architect (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement of two days per week at an HPE office in Houston, Texas; Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; or Fort Collins, Colorado, United States

Salary: Annual base salary of USD 165,000–313,500 in Colorado or USD 157,000–361,000 in Texas and Wisconsin; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Lead architectural decisions for Gen13 server firmware and develop organization-wide software architectures across multiple platforms and organizations.
• Resolve complex system-level firmware trade-offs early in design while ensuring scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Evaluate technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partnerships against the technology roadmap and business value.
• Review designs and project activities for compliance with development standards, providing feedback to improve quality and reduce failure risk.
• Influence executive leadership, development partners, and industry standards groups through architecture communication and option negotiation.
• Mentor less-experienced staff and contribute technical leadership to significant projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in software systems design and development.
• Experience designing software systems, design tools, and development languages, including overall product and solution architecture across multiple platform types.
• Experience selecting and applying software testing methodologies, writing and executing test plans, debugging, and using testing scripts and tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; mastery of English and the local language.
• Ability to communicate product architectures and design proposals and negotiate options at business-unit and executive levels.
• In-depth knowledge of Redfish standards, Open BMC, and the Yocto environment.
• Proven experience scaling firmware across multiple management processors on scalable systems and integrating secure software development lifecycle practices.
• Experience with test-driven development and integrating AI into development and test cycles.
• History of innovation in software design, demonstrated through multiple patents or deployed solutions.
