Electronics / Communications Technician Instructor

Location: Primarily site-based at HMAS Watson, Sydney NSW; the role requires working from Defence training facilities.

What you will do

• Deliver classroom, practical, and blended learning programs covering communications, electronics, and command-and-control systems.
• Facilitate assessments, monitor trainee progress, and provide coaching.
• Use emulators, part-task trainers, eLearning platforms, and advanced training devices.
• Provide pre-course preparation, post-course support, and training administration.
• Maintain and improve training materials in line with Defence learning requirements and operational outcomes.
• Act as a subject matter expert and support courseware development and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Australian citizenship is required.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance is required.
• Certificate III in Electronics and Communications or an equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience with communications, electronics, telecommunications, or related technical systems.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
• Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work onsite at Defence training facilities.

Nice to have

• Defence, Navy, or military communications experience.
• Experience with naval communications systems, electronic equipment, or command-and-control systems.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, TAE40116 or TAE40122.
• Previous instructor, facilitator, trainer, or coaching experience.
• Experience developing or maintaining training materials and learning packages.
• Familiarity with Defence training frameworks and the Systems Approach to Defence Learning.
