Advanced Hardware Test Engineer (Defence)

Location: Adelaide, Australia. Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance at baseline, NV1, or NV2 level. Hybrid work from home/office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and document hardware test jigs, fixtures, and test equipment for verification, validation, and production acceptance.
• Develop and execute hardware test plans, procedures, reports, and acceptance documentation.
• Manage hardware products through factory acceptance testing, environmental qualification, and verification activities.
• Review designs for Design for Test and Design for Manufacture considerations, and support technical and customer acceptance reviews.
• Investigate test failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions with design teams.
• Maintain product structures and engineering data in ERP/PLM environments while collaborating with Systems, Electronics, Mechanical, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.

Requirements

• Experience managing hardware products through verification, validation, and factory acceptance testing.
• Ability to develop test plans, procedures, reports, and verification evidence for complex hardware systems.
• Experience testing electrical and electronic assemblies using formal engineering and test methodologies.
• Strong understanding of hardware integration, troubleshooting, and fault investigation.
• Experience supporting environmental qualification testing, including shock, vibration, temperature, and humidity testing.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing and compliance in defence, aerospace, maritime, or other highly regulated industries.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements, specifications, schematics, and engineering documentation.
• Experience working within a structured engineering lifecycle and configuration-controlled environment.
• Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline; eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Australia.
