Project Controls Cost Estimating, Advisor

Location: Hybrid position based in Pomona Innovation Village; employees must reside in California unless otherwise noted. Employees report to an SCE facility for a set number of days and may work remotely on the remaining days.

Salary: $143,900–$215,800 per year.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and refine project and unit cost estimates for major capital substation and bulk transmission line projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare cost reports, monitor project budgets, and advise management on forecasted overruns or underruns.
• Analyze market trends, material and labor cost fluctuations, project cost performance, risks, and forecast validity.
• Support capital programs including third-party added facilities, generation interconnection projects, system reliability upgrades, and generator queue cluster studies.
• Collaborate with SCE departments, project teams, operating facilities, contractors, and subject matter experts to validate scope, schedules, estimates, and cash flow parameters, including construction-site visits.
• Advance estimating methodologies, standards, governance, reporting, data analysis, process improvement, safety, and compliance practices.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of experience in engineering cost controls, estimating, planning, and risk assessment for major construction projects.
• Ability to protect physical, financial, cybersecurity, customer, proprietary, medical, and other sensitive company information with high standards of conduct and integrity.
• Ability to comply with company procedures, project governance, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• This is a NERC/CIP impacted position; successful candidates must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment or background investigation before hire and complete specified training before receiving unescorted access to the assigned work location.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SCE substation engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM discipline.
• Experience with InEight estimating tools and SAP.
• Certifications in engineering, project management, project controls, or construction management.
